Polaris Dance Theatre presents Groovin’ Greenhouse, a series of World Premiere dance works. Polaris, along with guest dance companies from every corner of Portland, are working with established and emerging Portland choreographers to present brand new dance works in Polaris Dance Theatre’s intimate black box theatre. Each evening will include a performance by Polaris Dance Theatre’s professional company, with a World Premiere by Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer, Robert Guitron. Guitron and his athletic company play with fresh, new ideas with this work-in-progress. The Polaris Dance Company will also feature work by Spanish Choreographer and Company Dancer, Gerard Regot. His inspiring new work grapples with the struggles of overcoming loss. This diverse company will pull at your heartstrings and demand the audience members think in a different way. This afternoon’s program is shared with the intriguing Vitality Dance Collective who will present, Surroundings, an exploration of where we’ve been, where we are going and where we can only dream of. Additionally, choreographer Darvejon Jones will premiere his new work, On Weathering. This new piece focuses on the choices we make and the ones we don’t that contribute to our longevity and weathering.
