From Feste to Falstaff to Hamlet and back again. Join Master Clown Michael O’Neill as he takes you on a one-man tour of clowns in The Classics. Michael, a world-class clown, director and scholar presents William Shakespeare’s Fools, a one-man tour of clowns throughout Shakespeare, introducing you to Shakespeare’s fools, as you’ve never seen them before! In this premiere of his newest exploration of what it means to be a clown, Michael takes us through eight plays and 12 characters in one hour! Come see the world of clown through Michael’s eyes and experience the bawdy, brilliant, and truthful fools of Shakespeare in a whole new way! This is sure to be an experience that will leave you laughing. Michael has performed in all 50 states and more than a dozen countries over the last 20 years, from clown to vaudeville to puppeteering. In the last year, Michael has directed and performed in Night Flights student show and annual Fright Night Halloween extravaganza. Most recently Michael directed Shakespeare’s As You Like It. Portland has also seen Michael’s directing work in the Commedia dell’Arte show A Servant of Two Masters at the University of Portland, a production of The Taming of the Shrew at George Fox University and vaudeville/variety shows such as Portland’s highly successful annual Clowns Without Borders benefit show at the Alberta Rose Theatre.
